About Human Design

This site is a free Human Design chart generator: enter your birth date, time and city, and the complete BodyGraph — nine centers, thirty-six channels, sixty-four gates, type, strategy, authority and profile — is calculated instantly in your browser.

What we set out to build

Most Human Design calculators ask for an account, an email address, or both before showing anything. We wanted the opposite: a human design chart experience where the tool is the first thing you see, the full chart is the result (not a teaser), and nothing about your birth data ever leaves your device. The calculation engine, the timezone handling and the interpretation texts all run locally in your browser on every page.

How the calculation works

The engine computes two sets of planetary positions: one for your birth moment (the personality layer, drawn black) and one for the design moment, solved by moving the Sun back exactly 88 degrees of solar longitude — not by subtracting a fixed number of days, because the Sun's speed varies through the year. Each longitude maps onto the sixty-four-gate wheel, activations define channels, channels define centers, and the center pattern produces type, authority and definition.

Timezone handling is where charts usually go wrong, so we treat it as a first-class feature. Your city resolves to an IANA timezone, and the offset applied is the historical one for your exact birth date — including daylight-saving rules of that year, half-hour zones like India's +5:30, and long-abandoned wartime offsets. If your birth time falls on a clock-change night, the form warns you that the time happened twice or never happened at all.

The engine is validated against published reference charts whose birth data is public and well documented, across several time zones, types and authorities. The same input always produces the same output on every page of this site.

What Human Design is — and is not

Human Design was synthesized in 1987 by Ra Uru Hu (Alan Robert Krakower) from astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, the chakra system and ideas from quantum physics. It is a self-reflection system: a structured vocabulary for noticing how you engage energy, decisions and other people.

We are explicit about this: Human Design is not scientifically validated. It is not medicine, psychotherapy, religion or financial advice, and nothing on this site should be used as a substitute for professional care. We present interpretations as neutral reflection material — entertainment and self-inquiry — and we avoid language that promises outcomes.

Used that way, many people find the system genuinely useful: a mirror that makes long-standing habits (saying yes too fast, proving worth, absorbing other people's moods) visible and discussable. Your experiment with your own chart is the point, not belief in ours.

Editorial standards

Every interpretation text on this site is written in-house. We do not copy Jovian Archive materials, paid readings or other sites' copy, and we do not use their trademarks or artwork. Gate names follow the common I Ching tradition; channel and center descriptions are our own neutral summaries.

The site ships in six languages — English, French, German, Spanish, Russian and Indonesian — with each language written for its own community's vocabulary, not machine-translated boilerplate.

Each tool page declares its primary topic honestly, carries a genuine interactive tool in the first screen, and offers at least a thousand words of substantive guidance below it. If a page ever falls short of that, it is a bug.

Privacy by default

Birth data is personal. That is why the calculator runs entirely client-side: your birth date, time and city are never transmitted to our servers, never stored in a database, and never attached to an identifier. Close the tab and everything is gone. The city search uses a bundled offline list instead of a geocoding API for the same reason.

Who is behind this

This is an independent project by a small team interested in well-engineered calculators for systems of self-reflection. It has no affiliation with Jovian Archive Inc., the International Human Design School, or any commercial Human Design practice. "Human Design" is used here descriptively, as the community's common name for the system.
